Only certain violations may be disposed of without your personal appearance in court. Carefully read the summons and instruction sheet accompanying it to determine whether you are allowed to dispose of your case without personal court appearance, and call the court office if you have any questions. You must appear in court if you are involved in an accident, and you must appear in court if directed to do so by a police officer or by court personnel.
If you must (or choose to) appear in court, be aware of the following:
All court sessions are held atRolla City Hall (901 North Elm), in the Council Chambers.
Your appearance date will be stated on your summons. If you cannot appear on the stated date, or have any questions about your court date, call the Municipal Court office at 364-8590 or 364-7190.
The City Prosecutor will be prosecuting your case. The current City Prosecutor is Brad Neckermann, and he can be reached at prosecutor@rollacity.org.
Failure to appear on your scheduled court date MAY lead to the issuance of a warrant for your arrest. If a warrant is issued, you will be required to post bond with the Rolla Police Department. Once bond is posted, a new court date will be scheduled. You must appear on this new court date.
Note that not all offenses/summonses require a personal court appearance. Most traffic offenses can be disposed of without appearing in court, by pleading guilty and paying a fine and costs. See here for details on pleading guilty without going to court.
